Man Illegally Enters Home, Demands Money, Then Sexually Assaults Victim, State Police Say

A 26-year-old man is behind bars after state police say he illegally entered an area residence, demanded money, then physically and sexually assaulted the victim.

The arrest comes after a weeks-long investigation following the incident, which occurred on Dec. 23, 2018 in the Village of Wappingers Falls.

On Thursday, Jan. 31, state police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Dominique Gomez of Wappingers Falls. He was charged with predatory sexual assault (a Class A-II felony), first-degree criminal sex act, first-degree assault and first-degree burglary (all Class B felonies), second-degree strangulation (a Class D felony) and endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.

Gomez was arrested and arraigned in Dutchess County Court and subsequently remanded to Dutchess County Jail pending his next appearance on Feb. 20.
